Youghal Visual Arts Festival

From butchers to bakers and every window in between art can be seen in the ‘Walking Gallery’, as part of the festival week. The spectacular open air gallery utilizes the mile long Main Street of Youghal.

About Us

Founded by two Youghal based artists, Amanda Hogan and Eileen McGoldrick, in 2006, the festival is entering its 2nd year.  Supported by a further eight local artists and enthusiasts the committee has evolved into a strong and focused working group.

The festival is aimed at promoting art in Youghal

Youghal Visual Arts Festival is run on a voluntary not for profit basis.

YVAF committee is made up of local artists and enthusiastic community members.

Goals & Objectives

The Festival’s goals are:
· To promote Youghal as a centre of Art excellence.
· To exhibit quality art by professional artists
· To exhibit local, national & international art
· To entice tourists in to Youghal thus supporting local businesses.

To give Youghal a new focus for its development as a heritage town.

In order to attain the above goals, the Youghal Visual Arts Festival will carry out the following
specific objectives:

 To exhibit a vast range of quality art.
· To use the Youghal Mall Arts Centre as it was intended.
· To use the Main Street to create the walking gallery thus drawing people along the whole length of the town.
· To attract local, national & international artists to exhibit.
· To develop further year round fundraising events to support the running of the main festival.
· To use the whole town including shops, businesses, community halls, public spaces, the town library & churches.
· To gain as much in kind support for the festival as possible thus keeping a good will emphasis on the festival where possible relieving already stretched business resources.

The Youghal Visual Arts Festival aims to attract in excess of 3000 visitors to the town over the week. By using a nationwide advertising scheme and by encouraging local hotels to give special festival rates.
