Youghal Visual Arts Festival

                   19th—27th July 2008

Applications are now being sought from artists working in any medium including ; painting, print, photography, film, textiles, and sculpture. Works will be sited in a range of public spaces and venues throughout Youghal. These sites will include gallery spaces, disused and operational business premises, public and private venues in the town centre. Appropriate locations will be identified after the initial selection process. Site-specific work is also welcome.

Youghal Visual Arts Festival is presenting artists work to the public in an accessible format. It is developing new audiences for art and providing new cultural experience. A central main gallery will hold a number of exhibits with the theme “THE LOST SUMMER”

• Each submission must be accompanied by an official entry form and suitable image
• Works may be submitted in slide or digital formats (max 6 images). Digital images must be in .jpg formats

• Images should be fully labelled, numbered and accompanied by size of work
• All submissions must be accompanied by an artist statement of not more than 50 words

• While every care will be taken with the material submitted, responsibility for any delays, damage or loss, however caused, is the sole responsibility of the artist. Artists are advised to arrange adequate insurance for any material submitted
• Artists requiring the return of their entries should enclose an appropriate stamped addressed envelope

• Submission due €30 per artist as no commission will be taken on any sales

• Subject to the availability of funds, and at the discretion of the committee, funding may be provided for transportation of exhibits

All of the entries will be acknowledged and the selected artists will be informed by 30th JUNE 2008.
Proceeds go to Youghal Visual Arts Festival 2009.

The organisers reserve the right to photograph works and to use elements of accepted entries for the catalogue and publicity, unless the artist expressly states the contrary in writing when making their entry.

All works will be covered by public liability insurance. However, insurance of works against loss or damage is the artist’s responsibility.
